But I had to share it. Someone gave this to me for free. It’s an Emerson EH-267 from 1970 and it all works perfectly. I’m swooning over this thing.

my grandmother is still rocking her ancient Kenwood system (likely a 70's unit as well). Uncle still uses the turntable often. Thing is a tank. big heavy, and its never broken down.

I’m beginning to think you’re secretly a time traveler from the 70's.

That’s a beaut! Love the reel-to-reel! I have a console stereo of similar size but sadly it doesn’t have a tape player. It is, however, quadraphonic .

I almost bought something similar, though not as many features, until I noticed the asterisk that said the record player didn’t work. That is an amazing piece.

My grandparents had one like this. By the mid-’80s when I was a kid, it was merely furniture, replaced by a newer shelf stereo. For years I didn’t even know that the console was a stereo until it was opened up one day.

Does it use vacuum tubes? My mom had one like that in Chicago. Wasn’t sounding too good, so I took the tubes down to the hardware store and put them in the tube tester that was in the corner in the back and three of them were bad. Three new tubes and it sounded great. This would have been late in 1983. I was about to go off and join the Army.

That’s been my goal all along.

My wifes grandparents are giving me hers this week. It was the first purchase she made after she started working in the 1950s.

I’ve seen some resto-mod ones, where the old, damaged internals were replaced with modern equipment that are great. My grandma has a big console one too, but her basement flooded about 20 years back, and its in pretty rough condition, so I passed on it.

That is very, very cool.

Awesome! My mother in law has a similar one that we will probably get, as well as a vintage vinyl jukebox that needs a little work but is in pretty good shape.

I should make a video showing it all working. it’s pretty neat.
